The cross-linking mechanism and advantages of BIPB

The company’s cross-linking technology with peroxides offers distinctive advantages. The process begins with peroxides evenly splitting into radical oxides, followed by these radicals snatching hydrogen atoms from polymer chains, thus forming macromolecular radicals. The final step involves these radicals combining to form a cross-linking bond.

B13, Donglan’s proprietary product, stands out for its high purity level owing to its exclusive meta-structure, offering stability along with a shorter half-life compared to traditional mixed-position BIPB. Additional advantages of B13 include higher storage temperature limits, efficient structural initiation, and stronger cross-linking strength. B13 facilitates simple and flexible cross-linking formulations, enabling co-vulcanization of saturated and unsaturated elastomers and thermoplastic plastics. Products manufactured using B13 formulas exhibit markedly improved hardness and strength over traditional formulas. B13 can also be used in conjunction with sulfur, converting high-sulfur polymer systems to medium-sulfur systems, thereby enhancing the tensile strength, elongation, compression set, and aging properties of the high-sulfur systems.

Product Line and Innovations:

  • BIPB B13: An independently produced product by Guangxi Donglan, B13 is a pure meta-structured 1,3-bis(tert-butylperoxyisopropyl)benzene with a purity exceeding 98%. It is characterized by low odor and high active oxygen content and outperforms domestic competitors in cross-linking efficiency and density.
  • Odorless B13: The company is set to launch a new generation of low-odour B13 products this year, addressing issues like 2-P-2-P excess and odor emission efficiency. This product will feature an even lower bag-opening odor and reduced odor during liquid formation in ovens.
  • B13S: A pioneering ultra-high purity B13S in China, completely odorless with a purity exceeding 99.5%, displaying a singular peak distribution in gas chromatography. It’s designed to thoroughly remove all resolved issues like 2-P-2-P and acetophenone excess in shoe material testing.
  • Customized Products: Catering to customer needs, Donglan has introduced B13-40GE/SR, CC/SR (anti-scorch), B13-40BC (non-anti-scorch), and BIPB B13-40GR (non-anti-scorch) formulations.
  • Upcoming Development: Heat Air Vulcanizable B13 is currently under development. It addresses the challenge of peroxides interacting with oxygen in widely used hot air vulcanization processes, often resulting in sticky surfaces on products. Overcoming this challenge would substantially expand the market for peroxides, particularly PIPB. Donglan is investing resources and collaborating with partner companies to develop this product, aiming to offer an alternative to high-priced foreign products bound by strict customer restrictions and confidentiality agreements.
